The Challenge

At customer.io, our messages didn’t support different languages. To localize content, users had to create separate messages for each language or add conditions inside messages. This meant workflows got complicated with many branches. But, since we didn’t fully control our editors, we had limits on what we could do with the content.

 

What I accomplished:

Research on localization tools and features for patterns and best practices

2.

Ideation through prototyping  

3.

A final proposal that was implemented as a complete tool in the editor to let you…

  1. define your language settings (so you did not have to leave and go to your workspace settings to define)

  2. choose all languages you want to add to the message

  3. tabbed content for each language to edit and manage

  4. a view of metrics to see how the message performed overall and by each language
