No one should have to guess at how something works or waste time with a tool that they don't need. I thrive on untangling complicated workflows and designing meaningful and relevant, people-centric web interfaces.

My Beginning

I'm a wearer of many hats, but my interests have always been centered around experiences and the natural order of things. What do I mean by that? Have you ever packed your car for a camping trip? There's certainly the "tetris" style of getting everything in just so. Then there's the logical thinking of "let's order the car by what things I need and when, just to make unpacking and setting up easier".

Every process in my life has been that that way; from how best to clean to the order in which I prepare foods (mise en place please!). UX, UI, IA, Interaction Design (whatever name you want to call it) was by no coincidence a great fit for my mind, and enabled me to continue to stretch that logical part of my brain into making lives easier.

“ I hope what I design makes it easy for people to do the tasks they need to do, in order to save time to do what they want to do. ”

While I have 15+ years of professional experience, the last 6+ have been solely focused on Interaction Design and Design Strategy. My work includes designing business applications for complex operational workflows to rethinking public facing applications sites to engage, inform, and instruct.

My Process

My process begins at the very beginning of a project; stepping back to understand the needs. I have facilitated discovery workshops to uncover the who/what/why of projects. I have developed roadmaps to determine and define scope. I have overseen and worked on all assets of design, from concept sketching, user flows, wireframing/prototyping, to visual design. And I have led technical walk throughs with developers, written user requirements and consulted on design strategy, and led QA to ensure what is designed is implemented.

That process breaks down like this:

1

Project Strategy:
Why are we doing this?

2

Ideation:
How can we meet the needs?

3

Design Strategy:
What ideas resonate?

4

Technical Strategy:
How can we implement?

5

Launch:
Are all requirements met?

I've worn many hats, but there are a few core skills essential to making sure my design process is successful.

If you are looking for an designer to think through complex workflows, internal operational tools, or web applications with operational tasks for people to use - I'd love to talk. If you're looking for a designer to create a flashy campaign site that triggers all the feels, I might not be it. But I'd be happy to hear more!
